Integrated offering target business intelligence applications
Building a better infrastructure for business intelligence and analytics is the goal of an agreement between SAP AG (Walldorf, Germany) and Teradata (Miamisburg, OH). The companies will offer SAP Netweaver Business Warehouse and Teradata Active Enterprise Data Warehouse as an integrated solution, facilitating the creation of a centralized enterprise data warehouse and minimizing the proliferation of multiple data warehouses within an organization.
The companies note that many clients use both Teradata and SAP products in at least one data warehouse. Now, those customers will benefit from an integrated offering that includes infrastructure, systems management and BI tools.
SAP also notes the relevance of its BusinessObjects software, a BI resource that was acquired not very long ago by the company. Teradata is endorsing SAP as a strategic partner for analytics and BI solutions. The agreement also renews and expands Teradata’s role as a reseller and “strategic database platform” for the BusinessObjects portfolio.
A partnership with SAS
Earlier this year, Teradata announced a similar partnering relationship with SAS Institute (Cary, NC), which specializes in business analytics software. The two companies will offer the Analytic Advantage program, which pre-packages SAS Analytics with the Teradata Active EDW, and an Optimization Services package that accelerates implementation of SAS software within the Teradata platform.
SAS, in turn, has taken the wraps off a new application, SAS for Physician Targeting, which allows users to mine prescriber and patient data for trends, and to perform predictive modeling to identify top-decile prescribers more quickly and precisely. SAS tools have been used extensively in the clinical research environment; now the company is broadening its base of life-sciences business applications. PC
