Poltraf acquisition adds to a network of 14 facilities serving Eastern and Western Europe
Continuing a European-growth strategy that the company has been engaged in for the past three years in healthcare logistics, UPS has announced the acquisition of Poltraf Sp z, from a Polish investment fund, Ortie. Price is undisclosed. Poltraf, based in Brionie, near Warsaw, has three facilities with “advanced warehouse management systems,” as UPS’ news release puts it, along with a fleet of 170 temperature-controlled vehicles for transporting refrigerated (2-8°C) and controlled room-temperature (15-25°C) products. It also has a network of 10 field stocking locations in Poland.
The announcement follows UPS’s acquisitions of a UK-based express-delivery service, Polar Speed, in February 2014; Hungary-based pharmaceutical logistics company, Cemelog, in 2013; and Italy-based, Pieffe, in 2011. “Poltraf complements our mainland Europe expansion plan and we are now able to provide healthcare companies access to a single source for logistics solutions across the continent,” said Cindy Miller, president, UPS Europe, in a statement.
