Jamie Campbell has been appointed as VP of research & development at Abzena, a contract development and manufacturing organization (CDMO). He brings 17 years of antibody discovery and development experience to the role and is responsible for building on the reputation of Abzena for meeting and exceeding client expectations. Campbell will oversee the performance of Abzena’s target to lead business covering discovery, design, and developability programs ensuring the continued improvement of the company’s services and development of its R&D team.
HERMA US Inc., the subsidiary of HERMA GmbH, a Germany-based manufacturer of labeling machinery, self-adhesive labels, and materials to the global packaging marketplace, has named equipment sales specialist Michael Harrop as its newest regional sales manager. In this role, he will develop and oversee sales efforts predominately within the Midwest, but will also support continued growth of HERMA’s many key accounts.
Pfizer has hired Andreas ‘Drew’ Panayiotou as its new biopharma global CMO. He is a seasoned and respected thought leader with nearly 30 years of global marketing experience with top companies including Johnson & Johnson, Hershey’s, The Coca-Cola Company, Chick-fil-A, Best Buy, The Walt Disney Company, and advertising agency BBDO. In this new role, Panayiotou will be responsible for building commercial infrastructure, including new innovative engagement channels, tools, and digital solutions and ensure that marketers have skills and capabilities to optimize and advance the company’s commercial ecosystem. He will be reporting to Angela Hwang, group president of Pfizer Biopharmaceuticals Group.
The Healthcare Distribution Alliance (HDA) announced the election of Chad Gielen, president and CEO of Louisiana Wholesale Drug Co. Inc., as chairman of HDA’s board of directors. Kirk Kaminsky, president, McKesson US Pharmaceutical, will serve as vice chairman. Gielen assumes board leadership from Robert Mauch, EVP and group president of AmerisourceBergen Corporation, after serving as HDA vice chairman for two years. Mauch will continue his service to HDA as a member of the HDA executive committee and board of directors.
Terebellum, a subsidiary of AscellaHealth, and a global specialty pharmacy and healthcare solutions organization, has announced the appointment of two executive positions to drive its growth in the UK and EU. Newly appointed VP of market access & commercialization, Floortje van Nooten, PhD, brings with her almost 20 years of experience in the biopharma industry. She will lead Terebellum’s expansion into the UK and EU, collaborating with marketing leadership on value proposition and messaging strategy, while providing guidance and support on consultative sales strategies and the development of client solutions. Victoria Daet also joins Terebellum, with business development and sales experience across many countries including the UK, Singapore, Thailand, and Japan. As regional director, Daet will identify opportunities within public and private healthcare organizations, and develop commercialization and go-to-market strategies for rare/orphan disease and gene/cell therapy pharma manufacturers in the EU and UK.
Reed-Lane, a contract packaging provider that serves pharmaceutical manufacturers, has promoted Josh Goolcharan to director of sales & marketing. In his new role, he will oversee the company’s business development and external messaging operations, while managing all customer relationships both directly and through team members. Goolcharan’s role expands to include all high-level customer inquiries, ensuring both adequate lead times and competitive cost. He will also lead new customer projects to ensure efficient ramp-up and establish longstanding relationships.
Zenas BioPharma, a biopharma company that aims to develop and commercialize immune-based therapies for patients, has appointed Simon Lowry, MD, as the company’s chief medical officer. He brings over 20 years of broad clinical expertise in the design and execution of early to late-stage clinical programs to Zenas, where he will lead the company’s global clinical, medical affairs, and pharmacovigilance functions.
Catalent, a CDMO, has appointed Wai Lam Ling, PhD, as VP, scientific advisory. Reporting to Julien Meissonnier, VP, chief scientific officer, she will join the company’s science and technology leadership team. Dr. Ling brings with her more than 25 years of experience in R&D and chemistry, manufacturing, and controls (CMC) operations across biologics and gene therapies, working for companies including Rocket Pharmaceuticals, Merck & Co (MSD), and Schering-Plough Corporation.
Boyden, a leadership and talent advisory firm, announced that Nick Bellwood has been named global practice leader, healthcare & life sciences. He will be leading a global team with a track record in biotech, healthcare providers, healthcare technology, pharma, and medtech, providing executive search, leadership consulting and interim management to global clients.
The Syntegon Group, a supplier of processing and packaging technology for the pharma industry, intends to appoint Peter Hackel, PhD, as CFO, effective at the beginning of 2023. He will be responsible for finance and controlling, foreign trade, and IT at Syntegon.
