Moderna to provide an additional 56.5 million vaccine doses to Gavi
A total of 116.5 million doses for low- and middle-income nations to arrive in Q2 of 2022
Moderna has announced a new agreement with Gavi, the Vaccine Alliance to supply a total of 116.5 million doses of Moderna’s Covid-19 jab to be delivered in the second quarter of 2022. This represents a boost from a prior agreement of 60 million doses of Moderna’s Covid vaccine that was mentioned earlier this year. Per the advance purchase agreement signed on behalf of the COVAX Facility, Gavi continues to retain the option to obtain 233 million more doses next year for a potential total of 500 million doses between 2021 and 2022, all of which are offered at Moderna’s lowest tiered price.
This deal covers all 92 of the Gavi COVAX Advance Market Commitment (AMC) low- and middle-income countries.
