Action follows the realignment of UPS healthcare logistics resources
Wes Wheeler, current CEO of the clinical logistics provider (and UPS subsidiary) Marken, is now president of UPS Healthcare and Life Sciences (HCLS), the newly reorganized unit of UPS.
As announced last month, UPS’s HCLS unit includes Marken, Polar Speed, and the company’s 114 healthcare-dedicated facilities, with warehouse capacity totaling some 8 million sq. ft. globally. The HCLS unit has a dedicated and healthcare-trained salesforce and customer support teams throughout the company’s global network. It provides extensive supply chain management, cold chain, clinical trials, global transportation and other critical healthcare service operations. Both UPS and Marken itself have recently announced capacity expansions.
Prior to his 2011 appointment at Marken, Wheeler had executive-level jobs at GlaxoSmithKline, Patheon, Valeant and DSM Pharmaceuticals.
