Jon Giacomin replaces Kaufmann as CEO of Cardinal Pharmaceutical segment
Following the previously announced retirement Jeffrey Henderson, Michael Kaufmann (photo), a 24-year veteran of the $91-billion/yr company, takes over as CFO. Kaufmann has been head of the Pharmaceutical segment (drug wholesaling, the predominant portion of Cardinal’s business) since 2009. Kaufmann’s “unique blend of financial acumen and extensive operational experience make him ideally suited to take the position of CFO," said George Barrett, chairman and CEO, in a statement. “I'm thrilled that this move also allows us to bring Jon Giacomin into the Pharmaceutical segment leadership role.”
Giacomin, previously president of US Pharmaceutical Distribution, has been with the company for 12 years and has held roles in packaging and supply chain services at the company.
Kaufmann is a member of the executive committee of the boards of the Healthcare Distribution Management Association and the National Association of Chain Drug Stores, and a trustee at Ohio Northern University. Kaufmann is the executive sponsor of the Cardinal Health Women's Initiative Network Employee Resource Group, which is dedicated to fostering partnerships that create a great place for women to work and grow their careers, while building a sustainable competitive advantage for Cardinal Health.
