Company touts 12 months of rapid growth
On March 6, Woodfield Distribution LLC (WDSrx) celebrated the grand opening of its Lockbourne, OH, distribution center, a 73,000-sq. ft. site that will handle pharmaceuticals, veterinary and OTC products. That follows on the heels of an expansion in its Florida base, as well as the opening of a DC in Dayton, NJ, last June and an expansion of its Pompano Beach, FL, facility in January. And in August, the company purchased Florida Pharmaceutical Products, a generics manufacturer.
“Ohio is an important center of operations as we execute our strategy to have a physical presence in major pharmaceutical hubs,” stated WDSrx president Adam Runsdorf, at the Lockbourne opening. Much of the capacity there is already taken up by a contract with a major pharma manufacturer.
Besides handling regular distribution services, the facilities (including one in Sugar Land, TX, and Boca Raton, FL) perform packaging and labeling, and multiple sites are now registered as Large Quantity Generators for pharmaceutical waste by the US Environmental Protection Agency (LQC designation is necessary for handling nonsalable product returns, which in turn is a component of being a viable reverse-logistics provider). Overall capacity of the company is 450,000 sq. ft.
