Company acquires the Channel Intelligence service of GHX
ValueCentric (Orchard Park, NY), one of the leading vendors of turning commercial trading data into market intelligence for pharma manufacturers, is now expanding its services into the medical devices arena with the acquisition of some operations of GHX (Louisville, CO). Once the integration is complete, says Dave Janca, ValueCentric CEO, med device manufacturers should expect to have cleaner, more frequently updated and more insightful market data being delivered to them via the cloud-based IT services that ValueCentric employs.
GHX is a major provider of IT services to manage supply chain business operations and contracting information for medical device manufacturers and health systems, with roots in the e-commerce exchanges that were set up in the 1990s. Health systems and wholesalers supply contract information to the exchange; then bid and order transactions are executed on the exchange. The company, owned by a consortium of manufacturers, wholesalers and GPOs (but neutral to all participants), has been making an effort to bring more pharma contracting business in, and is developing a system to manage pharma track-and-trace programs, for which it won an award this year.
For its part, ValueCentric has parlayed its expertise in handling EDI wholesaler data into the ValuTrak program, which gives manufacturers weekly or daily reports on commercial sales activity from retail, wholesale and other relevant distribution channels; it has some 200 healthcare clients (including retailers like Walgreens, who can process their store sales data through ValueCentric to provide manufacturers with store-by-store data).
Janca says the Channel Intelligence service currently offers, including sales tracings, pricing, chargeback or rebate claims and GPO administration fees, will be enhanced with improved validation processes and faster reporting. His company is keeping the GHX Channel Intelligence facility in eastern Pennsylvania (the office is in the process of being moved from Ambler to North Wales, PA) and will be adding ValueCentric staff there.
