Thermo Fisher Scientific Introduces New Ultra-Low Temperature Freezer
The new products offer more temperature control and sustainability benefits.
Thermo Fisher Scientific, a contract development and manufacturing organization (CDMO), has unveiled its latest ultra-low temperature (ULT) freezers. The TSX Universal Series ULT Freezers are reportedly able to acclimate to scientists’ workflows across multiple lab settings.1
When it comes to lab samples, cold storage solutions are often required, especially when it comes to storage, along with development of new therapies or furthering research. This new freezer welcomes quick recovery times, tighter temperature control, Universal V-Drive technology and voltage, more range in terms of setpoints, and perhaps most importantly, it can adapt to various workflows, while offering sustainable benefits that include potential for 33% energy savings. ENERGY STAR, a program run by the US Environmental Protection energy, certified and designed these freezers in a “Zero-Waste to Landfill” plant.
These products are tested for long-term dependability—in fact, they’ve endured over 5,400 days of continuous reliability testing in both field and lab setting in order to meet quality standards.
“With the advancement of new therapeutic technologies and tighter regulatory focus on the pharmaceutical cold chain, there’s a clear need for enhanced and manageable cold storage solutions across a variety of settings,” said Carlos Sevilla, VP and general manager, controlled temperature technologies at Thermo Fisher Scientific. “Following extensive research and development, we’re proud to launch the next generation TSX Universal Series of ULTs, enabling high-use academic labs, [good manufacturing labs] GMP labs and long-term storage facilities to use the same unit throughout diverse workflows while supporting their own sustainability goals.”
In other news, in an effort to strengthen pharmaceutical supply chains, the CDMO opened a new sterile drug facility in Singapore last year, which helps better enable customers to deliver new medicines and vaccines in the Asia-Pacific market.2
