Sofrigam partners with global warehouser to position shipping containers around the world

Sofrigam (Rueil-Malmaison, France), owner of several prominent brands in cold-chain shipping containers, such as Frizbox and Sofribox, has partnered with a global supply-chain services company, ModusLink Global Solutions (Waltham, MA). The purpose: to provide localized delivery and returns of cold-chain shipping containers from locations around the world.

Sourcing and delivery of cold-chain containers can be a significant part of their overall cost, notes Christopher Day, VP, North America, for Sofrigam, which styles itself as the leading supplier of single-use pallet shippers in pharma. While the company has several locations around the world already for sourcing containers, it can now make use a ModusLink network of 30 distribution centers in 15 countries. “In our industry, value is added through sophisticated design and manufacturing. Global distribution is a must, but it doesn't make economic sense for us to do it ourselves,” says Day.
