Joint venture expected to address pharma’s injectable drug-filling sector.
Gerresheimer AG, a provider of drug delivery systems for various industries, including pharma, has entered into an agreement with Corning Incorporated, a glass manufacturer who produces tubing and vials. The deal aims to increase access to Corning’s branded vial tech platform known as Velocity Vials.
The partnership will reportedly enable Gerresheimer to convert Corning’s aforementioned platform into glass form, enhancing product quality, lowering manufacturing costs, and speeding the delivery of injectable therapies. With production taking place in Gerresheimer’s existing facilities, vials are expected to be immediately available in North America, Europe, and Asia.
“By expanding our long-standing relationship with Corning, we add another integrated solution to deliver value for our customers," says Lukas Burkhardt, PhD, a member of Gerresheimer’s management board.
