China and Europe see upgrades for cold chain shipments
CSafe, which has a line of active (powered) air-freight containers as well as the AcuTemp line of passive parcel shippers, has new service centers in Shanghai, China; Zurich, Switzerland; and Stockholm, Sweden. It now has 40 stations across the globe. These stations include the company’s Preventative Maintenance Rebuild program, which provides every-shipment inspections, annual performance checks and triennial refurbishment. A 2019 paper details the company's findings that older containers function as well as the newest ones as a result of the maintenance program.
Meanwhile, the company has also updated its AcuTemp product line of parcel shippers, which feature vacuum-insulated panels and optional electronic tracking. The new AcuTemp Plus series has a stronger exterior layer, reconfigured dimensions and a modified phase-change material. Overall, the line is said to be geared specifically for handling cell and gene therapy (CGT) shipments, which often involve sub-zero temperature control.
