Cold Chain Technologies (CCT), a US-based provider of thermal packaging and digital monitoring solutions for the transportation of temperature-sensitive life sciences products, has acquired Global Cold Chain Solutions (GCCS), a provider of passive cold chain solutions based in Australia and India, for an undisclosed amount.1

GCCS is a creator of thermal assurance solutions for various life sciences applications that allow for the safe and dependable transportation of medication.

“GCCS has established itself as a regional market leader over the last two decades by leveraging its differentiated technologies and broad-ranging portfolio of products and services,” commented Ranjeet Banerjee, CEO of CCT. “GCCS’ rapid expansion in India and other global markets are further testament to the quality of its products, operations, and customer service. We are thrilled to partner with Andrew and the entire GCCS team to further expand CCT’s footprint in Asia Pacific [APAC], which continues to see rapid investment across all life sciences verticals.”

Executives on GCCS leadership team also relish the opportunity for growth in the cold chain space.

“We are excited to leverage CCT’s diversified product portfolio, thermal engineering expertise, and proprietary digital track-and-trace software to accelerate our worldwide growth,” said Andrew Meyers, founder and CEO of GCCS. “We have long admired CCT as a leader in our industry and believe it is the ideal partner to support GCCS’s next chapter of growth. We look forward to working with Ranjeet [Banerjee] and his team to better serve our customers, our employees, and the entire life sciences community.”

This deal marks CCT’s fifth acquisition since partnering with Aurora Capital Partners in 2019. One of the most recent transactions occurred in October of last year, when the company purchased Tower Cold Chain, who specializes in passive reusable cold chain solutions.2

Both parties also celebrated accomplishments pertaining to sustainability,3 with CCT surpassing its goal of 100 million lb of landfill avoidance by 2025; meanwhile, Tower Cold Chain was awarded the EcoVadis gold medal, which puts the company in the top 5% of businesses recognized for their sustainability efforts. EvoVadis is a a sustainability ratings platform that assesses companies across multiple industries on environmental, social, and ethical performance criteria.

"Surpassing our 2025 target of avoiding 100 million pounds of landfill waste by the end of 2024 is a tremendous achievement,” added Banerjee. “This underscores our commitment to driving sustainability through innovation and collaboration with our customers, having enabled over 12.5 million shipments using sustainable solutions.”
