The new parent company will expand security, monitoring and remedial action for pharma shipments
Bosch Service Solutions, a business unit of Bosch Group GmbH with over 10,000 employees worldwide, is acquiring Elpro Group AG, a leading provider of dataloggers and associated temperature management instrumentation used in managing pharma cold chains and facilities. Purchase price was not disclosed. Elpro employs about 220 from locations in Switzerland (headquarters), North America and Singapore.
For Bosch, the acquisition is something of a return to the life sciences industry; its largest former presence was likely Bosch Packaging Technology, which was spun out as Syntegon Technology GmbH in 2020. Bosch Service Solutions, along with other Bosch units, provide automation and control technology in energy management, building management and “mobility” (which includes monitoring and response services in transportation and industrial logistics).
In the press announcement, Bosch noted that Elpro will become part of the “largest private security control center network” in Europe, which is able “not only to detect malfunctions and emergencies, but also to coordinate remedial actions.” It promises that “new and innovative service models can result for participants of the pharmaceutical supply chain.”
