Appointment highlights the trend toward digital patient services
Bhaskar Sambasivan, Eversana
Eversana has announced the appointment of Bhaskar Sambasivan as president, patient services and chief strategy officer of the company; this follows a busy round of appointments earlier this year bringing in top executives from AmerisourceBergen, Cardinal Health and inVentiv Health (now Syneos Health). In Sambasivan’s case, his former experience is SVP and Global Head, Life Sciences at Cognizant, as well as earlier roles at Siebel Systems and PricewaterhouseCoopers.
“We are in the midst of industry transformation as the promise of regenerative medicine and specialty therapies demands a more innovative approach to patient services and support,” said Jim Lang, CEO, Eversana. “We’re proud to welcome a leader in digital innovation to our team as Bhaskar shares our vision that best-in-class patient services must be continually advanced by the power of digital platforms, data and analytics.”
Patient support/hub services have traditionally required “high touch” services conducted by case managers, clinical nurses and other specialists; the cost of such services usually dictates that they are provided mostly for expensive specialty pharmaceuticals (which is also, it is worth pointing out, where the specialized services are most necessary). Various providers in the business have built dedicated IT platforms to automate some of these services, thereby reducing the overhead costs. Recently, Eversana announced a partnership with OptimizeRx to link the latter’s access to electronic health records and copay programs with Eversana’s patient support service.
