Reflects company’s identity and pharma supply chain impact
AmerisourceBergen Corp. (ABC), one of the “Big Three” when it comes to drug wholesalers, will be changing its name to Cencora, a move that the company says is greatly inspired by its customers and employees alike.
The new name—expected to be official by the second half of this year—intends to create a stronger employer brand in order to attract future talent and increase employee loyalty, retention, and performance. However, even with the name change, ABC will continue to focus on its pharmaceutical distribution business, while further developing its pharma and biopharma services platform.
"Over time, we have established ourselves as a trusted industry partner that prioritizes innovation, advocates for patient access, and advances strategic partnerships across the global pharmaceutical supply chain,” notes Steven H. Collis, ABC’s chairman, president, and CEO. “… Building a unified brand is fundamental to our identity as a global healthcare company. We believe our new name better reflects who we are today and our impact across pharmaceutical care."
