Care facilities implement pharmacy automation system

Medication dispensed in patient-specific multi-dose packets

Indianapolis-based institutional pharmacy Wellfount is implementing the Talyst InSite pharmacy automation system at 40 licensed long-term care facilities. The Talyst (Bellevue, WA) system is a freestanding, secure dispensing unit located on site.

Medication orders from the facility are approved remotely by a pharmacist, according to an announcement. When it is time for a medication pass, the InSite unit dispenses the medications in patient-specific, multi-dose packets. Each sealed packet is printed with the patient's name, the name of the medication, and a verifying bar code.
